Who's behind OMIFA?
Me! I’m Alicia Forest…
I write contemporary women’s fiction with a focus on small town relationships. I also dabble in the mystical, just for kicks.
I’ve considered myself to be a writer since – well, since forever. I taught myself to read before I started Kindergarten because I desperately wanted to get lost inside “The Cat in the Hat”. What magical things words were then – and they became my escape as I grew. But more about that later… I took the very long way around to claiming my deep desire to become a novelist.
While I got my undergrad degree in English, I was also pre-law – not so much for me, but for my Dad’s dream of being my becoming a lawyer. I worked as a paralegal for a few years, where I quickly discovered it was most definitely not for me, moved on to teaching 7-12 grade English, quickly discovered that wasn’t for me, and then jumped around from being a preschool teacher, junior activities director, loan processor (🥱), to finally landing a job at my alma mater as the public relations director – which was the longest working-for-someone-else stint I ever had before being downsized 22 months in.
That’s when I decided to… pursue my writing career?
Nope. I started my 23-year career as an online business coach. 🤓 That career allowed me to never miss a moment of our kids growing up while contributing financially to our family… but it was never a passion.
Now that our oldest is in college and our youngest is close behind, I’m finally coming back to the thing I’ve always wanted to do – write.
Meanwhile, I’m taking my 23 years of experience and expertise in online marketing to help aspiring and seasoned indie fiction authors reach more readers and sell more stories.
